School Improvement and Accreditation
Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA) is a crucial requirement imposed on all public schools in Kansas to ensure students receive a consistent and high-quality education across the state.
In the academic year 2022-2023, USD 436 began a new accreditation cycle facilitated by Cognia, a reputable non-profit organization. Cognia conducts thorough on-site reviews of educational institutions and systems, aiming to help all learners reach their full potential. As part of this process, Cognia will evaluate the educational programs and practices within USD 436 and make an accreditation recommendation to the Kansas State Department of Education in Year 5, which aligns with the 2027-2028 school year.
To prepare for this accreditation cycle, district leadership collaborated closely with the board of education to refine the district's purpose statements. With a clear direction established, stakeholders came together during the summer and fall of 2022 to create a comprehensive 5-Year Strategic Map. This strategic planning framework guides the district's overall direction and includes key objectives and initiatives to enhance educational outcomes. Building improvement teams have been actively developing yearly improvement plans that align with the district's Strategic Map, fostering a cohesive and synchronized approach to educational development across USD 436.
